The room was quiet but full of people as whispers of prayers were spoken forth. We huddled around the peaceful body that lay in the hospice bed, taking hold of hands and feet as we released scripture and songs into the atmosphere. I didn’t realize it as I entered the man of God’s room that morning, but the doctors pronounced him dead five hours earlier.

Still, we stood in faith that our God is One of resurrection power.

God’s presence embraced each of us. Holy Spirit danced around the room, delighted in our hearts of worship. Jesus stood smiling among us in celebration of another precious son graduating into the arms of our Father.

Death, where is your sting? Grave, where is your victory?

All I could do was smile as tears of joy rolled down my face. “This is death?” I wondered to myself. “This is victory! This is a joyous celebration of a life lived for Christ and one given for love.”

I walked away from that experience all the more confident that our faith is precious and Jesus is King. Our prayers and faith for God to raise him from the dead were not in vain.

“In the presence of Him whom he believed – God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did …” (Romans 4:17)

Faith and our words. These two are victorious weapons in the kingdom of God. And they go hand-in-hand with one another …

By faith, we confess our belief that Jesus is the Son of God. We declare the Word of God and stand upon the truth with eager expectation because we believe that He is good, no matter what. We speak life over ourselves and others knowing that Papa hears our prayers and delights in our faith.

Holy Spirit dropped this in my spirit as I considered my church family’s faith to declare and witness healing in our brother’s situation: “Faith isn’t based upon results, but on your belief.” We didn’t lose this battle. We stood in faith as brothers and sisters in Christ standing on the Word and declaring His promises as an army of the living God. In war, there are casualties. And the spiritual war is no different. But in reality, they only step into eternity and partner with us from above.

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4-5).

Even in the midst of the battle, the war is already won in Christ. Our faith is the victory and our words the worship of our Savior King.
