My first optometry appointment ever.  Or at least the first one I could recall.  I didn’t feel the need to go after doing just fine at pediatric check-ups, but being weeks away from flying to China for a year put a bit more emphasis on getting all the doctor’s appointments taken care of beforehand.

As I sat in the waiting room, my mind wandered to the current financial situation I found myself in: $12,500 needed in the bank before stepping foot on a plane to training camp in preparation to bring the gospel to the second largest Asian nation (since Russia is technically the biggest), a country of great promise in proclaiming Jesus’ name in the east.   And that’s when I heard His familiar voice ever so clearly: “If I can raise my Son from the grave, I can certainly raise your support.”

Say what?!

No doubt about it.  God nipped my financial worries right in the behind.  I sat there in a stupor for a couple moments as I processed what He spoke straight into my heart, reflecting over that truth.  There’s no comparison between raising a couple thousand bucks and Jesus defeating death, God raising him to life again and living at the right hand of the Father forevermore. In the midst of the eye doctor’s office, I got my hearing (and reality) checked.

God remained faithful to His promise.  He called me to China and provided every penny and more.  That’s the experience of the Lord’s provision I stand upon in preparing for the Race.

The Lord reminded me of that experience this week.  Faith begins with our thoughts, with what we believe in our hearts as well as us remembering our testimonies of seeing Him move.  Do I believe and know God is who He says He is in the Word?  Or have I believed lies in place of truth?

So I declare it here and now that I believe that in the same way God raised Jesus from the grave, He is faithful to raise every penny and more to send me to the nations for His kingdom purposes.  I walk by faith and not by sight.  We’re called and created for such a time as this!

“Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.” – Luke 1:45
