"This is what I'm made for .. This is when I'm fully alive."

I thought this to myself as my ministry host maneuvered the electric blue truck around the "potholes" (or rather miniature canyons in the dirt road) on our way to grocery shop for the squad. I gripped the hand rail above the side door and in front of me as the vehicle bounced back and forth. The terrain rocking us from side to side made no dent in the smile on my face nor the joy in my heart.

It felt more like a rodeo than a trip to the grocery store in a truck but I envisioned each hole in the road or rock in the way as a part of the path on which God leads us.  Some create larger obstacles than others but none are unconquerable. Some require more effort to overcome but it brings all the more joy once we accomplish the task before us. Some challenge our strength but when we've used all of ours, we find that Christ fuels us to go further than we ever can on our own.

Jesus designed and created me for this adventure, not for just one season but for my entire life. And I'm confident of that. I recall my time in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Brazil as well as China and the same thought came to me: "I was made for this."

I'm learning to love the journey, the process that prepares me for the destination. It's the adventure that brings out who we truly are, not the place where we're going.

And this all came about while bouncing down a mountain in a truck headed grocery shopping. We're in the journey right now; it's life itself. It's when we're fully alive.
