First I want to just say that I am SO excited that you will be sharing in this journey and adventure with me. And I’d like to encourage you to check this blog often, especially when I’m out on the field because your prayers and support will be much needed.
So why the World Race? Why would I give up the comfort of my bed, home, the security of my job, the things I enjoy doing, (I’m not going to say my nice car, because my car is literally being held together by duck tape 🙂 ), and leave the every day love of my family, friends, mentors and just those relationships that never fail to bring smiles to my face?
Because there was an awakening within my soul to a calling and purpose greater then myself. A calling to find and live the true life of selflessness. A calling to discover who I am in Christ, and who my Lord is to the world. A calling to love the lost, fatherless, rejected, hurting, sick, broken souls of the world because I was these things and more when Christ reached down and pulled me up. Because when your life is touched by Christ you can’t just go back to life as it once was. And the World needs to know this love, see this loved lived out, feel this love. Don’t get me wrong as excited as I am, I’m scared too. This is unfamiliar ground, but it is a ground I must tread, a ground that I am now longing to tread.
Okay so some info on what the World Race is.
Its an 11 month stretch into 11 different countries around the world. Through adventure, ministry, community, and self-discovery World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s kingdom around the globe. My team and i will be partnering up with other churches and ministries in local communities to preach the gospel, work in orphanages, minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of trafficking, and bring the restoration and hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations.
