My name is Colleen Foley and I am currently from Bloomington, Illinois…however, I’m really “from” a lot of places. I’ve moved around a lot in my past 22 years of life. I have lived in Georgia, Ohio, Florida, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Illinois…all of which I love!
I am the youngest of three. I have two older brothers and a Dad who I love very much. I lost my mom to cancer when I was in high school, which was a major breaking point in my life. I grew up hearing about God a lot, but I never really
knew Him. My mom
knew Him, and when I lost her, I was very bitter at God. My sophomore year of high school, a good friend of mine faithfully prayed for me and took time to talk to me a lot about life and God. He led me to the Lord and I am forever thankful. The Gospel became so real to me, and the Lord transformed my life and continues to grow me in His grace each day.
This past December, I graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in English Education (grades 6-12). I fell in love with teaching during my student teaching experience, and I hope to pursue teaching high school in the years to come. I love being outdoors, hiking, running, swimming, and acting goofy. I also love getting to know people, living in community, and laughing!
The Lord has given me a heart for hurting people, and a desire to comfort others with the comfort I have received from Him (2 Corinthians 1:4). He is the only comfort in a world of pain. The more time that passes, the more passionately I believe that the Gospel
transforms. The Gospel not only leads sinners to a prayer for forgiveness, but also hurting people to healing, desperate people to hope, and lost people home. I pray that God would continue to grow in me a deeper understanding of the Gospel each day.
I want God to glorify Himself through me for the rest of my life, and I know that in this next year, He has chosen the World Race for me. I am excited/nervous for what is ahead, but I know that no matter what, He is good and He is faithful. I am so thankful for this opportunity and I look forward to seeing what the Lord has in store!
