Here are some pictures to show how we have been living and what we have been doing during our simply refreshing month in Cambodia, a month filled with time with kids and time without distractions.

Our team shares a small guesthouse about 150 yards from our ministry host’s house. We pitched our tents inside to serve as mosquito/spider/lizard nets, sleep on our sleeping pads, and use the electricity sparingly (pretty much only for the fans!) because it easily gets over worked and goes out on us.

We share this little bathroom with the 20 people that live in Ra’s house and bathe with the water next to the squatty potty. Where do you bathe, you ask? Well you stand in front of the squatty potty and pour water from that square tub over yourself. That water also serves as the “flusher” of the squatty potty when scooped up by that bowl and dumped down the squatty potty drain.

For our ministry… Monday through Friday we teach English to the kids that live in the village during the day…

We also do “practical work”… which for us has meant filling up a pig pen with dirt, chopping down trees to build the structure of a roof, or shoveling dirt to create a smooth drive way leading up to the guest house.

We also share “one-on-one” time with the teenagers in the village during which we learn about their lives, talk about Jesus, and help them with their English.

And finally, we lead bible study with the kids and teenagers of the village each night. (The kids of this village are so eager to learn more about the Lord that they come to bible study Monday through Friday… can you imagine teenagers back home wanting to do that??)

Oh and a constant… day in and day out… is playing with the precious kids that live all around us!

We have been truly blessed by our time in Cambodia!
