Hey everyone sorry I’ve been slacking on the blogs lately, I just wasn’t really sure what to write about. I’m going to really buckle down here and start keeping you guys better informed on whats going on in my life as I continue to Prep for this trip.
Yesterday I had the opportunity to meet a fellow world racer that had just returned home from an 11n11 trip, Kevin Odom was his name. I’m not really sure how Ryan found Kevin or how he got us the opportunity to sit down and have lunch with this guy and it doesn’t really matter, I was just really excited to get to talk to someone that had been on the race. I guess before the race Kevin was known to be quiet and kind of introverted. That was not the case yesterday however. Kevin was very out going and was more than happy to tell us stories about his trip and the individual adventures that were blessed upon him. He gave us advice on fundraising and blogging which was very helpful as well as what to expect when living on the field with fellow racers.
what really made the biggest impact on the entire experience yesterday was when Kevin told us to not have any expectations of what will be. that landed rather hard considering its pretty common for us as sinners to expect the best for ourselves. He stated that this is Gods plan for us and no matter what the turn out is that it was Gods plan for us all along. The best way for any of us to go into this trip is with just a true servants heart, to just take everything as it is and to let God show you just how powerful and influential he really is.
Kevin if you’re reading this I just wanted to thank you for taking the time out of your day to meet with Ryan and I and really give us the motivation to stay motivated. meeting with you yesterday was huge for both of us and it really helped me to get my head straight and remember to love God for all he has done for us.
P.S. Kevin is currently prepping for his second race as a Squad leader so if you’re interested in getting to know this Awesome human or following his journey on the race, his blog is…
