Our hearts were touched. Our lives were impacted.
Our pursuit of prayer changed. He had a way with his words, to make one laugh,
or cry. He enjoyed life, conversation and singing despite any pain or
discomfort he lived in constantly.
Albert.
A Godly, prayerful man that believed his body had
symptoms of cancer. He choose to neither own the ‘C’ word nor deny it. He laid
out all his pain meds for us so we could see how he managed through the night.
During the day he suffered through with nothing to quench the constant pain.
The cancer once in his right limphnod had now spread to his pelvic bone. Two
days before Cole and I sat in his one bedroom home, the Doctor had apologized
to him for there was nothing else that could be done. Albert would still say,
“God is in the business of healing!” Albert believed our God is our
Healer, he also had the faith to trust God with his health and the outcome.
Even though five years he had been sick with the ‘C’ word, he still loved,
worshiped, and trusted his Heavenly Father. Albert wanted to be healed, but he
never stopped believing in God’s goodness.
Albert checked into hospice our last week in
Australia, he said he was on holiday at the hospital. He said it was for pain
management. As we said our goodbyes, Albert assured us he would be praying for
the two of us. I have been confident in this promise and felt his prayers for
the last two months.
At 70
years old, he asked Jesus to take him home, this He did. This week Albert went
home to be with his Savior.
His faith moved mountains, his prayer touched
hearts, and his persistence to love and enjoy life inspired those that met him.
Our team Freely Given will never forget his
laughter, loud, “Amen’s!” and his singing voice. We thank the Lord, we
had the privileged to know this mighty warrior.
