Fun facts about Cole… (from his wife’s perspective)

Cole is very talented… when he is interested in pursuing
something, he can pick up on it really quickly. For instance Cole can play
drums, guitar and piano.

Cole comes from a family of four kids, he is the youngest.
He loves to make people laugh and feel comfortable. He is often willing to
forgo his own comfort in order to make other people enjoy themselves more.

I am personally proud of the man I married, he has always
been able to adapt well to his settings and as he started attending college at
14, people thought he was older than he really was. He finished his Associates
degree at the age of 18, so as he walked for his high school graduation; he had
already completed his 2 year college degree. At twenty he graduated from ASU
West with his bachelor degree in Communications with emphasis on business.

Someone once said I should patent Cole, since he was the
ideal man. He cooks, cleans, enjoys (almost) all the food I make him and is
even willing to put the toilet seat down, make the bed and join me in some of
my hobbies and activities. He is quite the handyman as well, he is willing to
try to fix just about anything and is great when it comes to understanding and
working on cars. I haven’t had to worry about finding a mechanic in a long time
since Cole knows how to work on my car. Cole doesn’t say he can’t, he says
he’ll try.

Cole loves the outdoors, he enjoys playing in water,
fishing, camping and hunting. He started hunting at a young age with his dad and
has always enjoyed the bonding time he gets each year with his dad. Cole is a
great fisherman, he is patient and quiet as he casts and reels over and over
again. He enjoys the challenge and the peace and tranquility it brings.

Having grown up in the desert heat, he learned to swim early
on. He can dive, water ski, wake board… drive a boat, drive a jet ski or surf.
This may not seem like much to some, but for me it’s amazing, since I can do
little to none of these.

Cole gets along well with people, since he is mild tempered
and playful.  My family adores him, all
his bosses value him and every social gathering he is at people enjoy his sense
of humor.

Cole is a hard worker, no matter what he does he gives it
his all. Whether he is building a huge fence for someone, or making a little
wood candle centerpiece, he is putting his heart into it. He has served at the
local rescue mission, cooking, serving, cleaning… all while having a smile on
his face.

Fun facts about Jamie… (from her husband’s perspective)

Jamie is someone that is like no other, I like to think of
her like a hidden jewel. Growing up she was always the first to volunteer, she
gives up some much to make sure people feel welcome. Years ago we both
volunteered at a local rescue mission, Jamie was in her comfort zone, smiling,
talking, and sharing with every scary, smelly and drunk homeless person there.
Never has she thought about her own comforts before others. A true gentle
spirit.

Jamie is a wonderful crafter, from quilting, scrapbooking, and
croqueting, she does it all. She enjoys being creative.

Jamie is someone that will tell you what’s on her mind, she
doesn’t beat around the bush, she’s very truthful, and most people find that
this is one of her greatest qualities. In today’s society we bite our tongue
and let those around us say hurtful things, which leads to anger down the road.
Not Jamie, she will tell you if it’s hurtful.

My wife has always been someone who knew what she wanted and
she was not afraid of what other people thought of her when she pursued it. Her
parents say they never worried about peer pressure with her as a teen, because
she knew what she didn’t want and was unafraid to tell people so.

Jamie is no one you need to entertain, give her some crayons
and paper she’s good.

High needs, not Jamie, she has never expected to go out
every week to a fancy restaurant, or wear the latest fashion. Both Jamie and I
enjoy the simple things in life.

Leadership, Jamie has been a leader her whole life, she was
a teacher/grader in a perspectives class by the age of 15, and by 16 she
organized and ran an entire 2 week children’s camp. Most of my friends thought
she was scary because of her strength, but what an awesome trait it has been.

Jamie is the whole reason why I am the way I am, she shook
me up when I heading off the path as a teen, she showed me more to life the
being consumed by yourself.  We have been
together for a long time now, and it puts a smile on my face seeing how alike
we are.

Jamie loves kids, she’s like a magnet to them, they come
running to her for attention and she gives them love without question. She has
a beautiful motherly love that never ceases to amaze me.

Missions has always been her heart beat, she started
travelling at 14 to Africa. Cultures came and went in her home as her family
hosted internationals for the holidays or did weekly dinners with exchange
students at the university. She is proud to call three Lost Boys of Sudan her
brothers, and one Muslim man from Mali her uncle.

Our story that I imagine everyone wants to hear if they
don’t know it already. Cole and I met at youth group, but did not become
friends right away. My parents owned and ran a conference center and every
summer they directed and ran children’s bible camps. One summer Cole
volunteered to help direct recreation, and be a junior counselor. This was the
first time we really started getting to know each other. It started small, with
emails and occasional phone calls. We started hanging out with the same friends
and did group activities almost weekly. We didn’t really date for years, but we
were exclusive friends. We became best friends as we pursued our relationship. Five
years after that first summer, Cole proposed to me and a year later we were
married.

We both grew up in Arizona, and lived in Glendale for the
first 6 months of our marriage. Then after Cole graduated with his BA from ASU,
we decided to move to Colorado to try something new. We both fell in love with
the area on summer vacations and choose this place for our wedding. We love the
outdoors, fishing, off roading and even hunting. It is a big change from the
big city we are used to, but enjoy feeling connected to a small community. The
town we live in has about 600-800 people in it.

We enjoy doing everything together… and are pretty simple as
it is. I love laying in bed giggling and talking for hours. Cole knows me
better than anyone and he always seems to have a way to either calm me down or
cheer me up. He gets me and is good at communicating what I am thinking or
feeling to others when I have a hard time communicating it myself.

We are both nervous and excited for this upcoming year, we
know it is going to be full of opportunities and challenges, but over all we
are anxious to see what God is going to be doing in the nations and in our
relationship.
