Hey Y’all, I’m excited to be able to share some amazing news with you today!
I’m going on the World Race!!! What is the World Race you might ask? It’s an 11 month missions trip to 11 different countries where a team of people around my age will be doing all kinds of different ministries like: working with youth in orphanages, doing construction, sidewalk ministry, and working with victims of human trafficking.
How did I get here? How did I know that God was calling me to a life of missions? What is my journey preparing for the race going to look like? How much money do I need to fundraise? What does that money cover? All of these are great questions I have asked myself and had many others ask me, so I decided to write this blog to answer a lot of these questions.
I began to feel called to missions while I was in high school, but I didn’t know exactly what form of missions God was calling me to or where it would wind up taking me. What I did know is that God is calling me to a life dedicated to serving him. I began asking myself questions…. How can I serve God now? How can I start doing missions and serving him where he has currently placed me? My conclusion was to start plugging into everything I could at my church. Within a few months I was plugged into some incredible ministries where I started doing missions in Atlanta, GA; feeding the homeless, and leading the men’s ministry at my church. What I noticed as I started doing these different things was my passion and heart for serving God continued to grow.
As my passion for serving and missions continued growing, I noticed God laying different areas on my heart like Central America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. I didn’t think it was possible for me to serve in all of these different areas especially when I didn’t know exactly what type of ministry I wanted to do. So, I prayed…. And I waited. I kept praying that God reveal a way for me to serve him in one of these regions he has been calling me to. One day while at work I thought I should google the world race to see what they have going on and what trips they have coming up. Little did I know that one simple google search was the answer to the prayer I was praying for so long.
When I saw the route 3 for August 2018 I immediately knew this is what God was calling me to because every country on this route is in Central America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. God answered my prayers I had been praying for so long and I knew this is what he was calling me to! That next day I signed up for route 3… so next August I’m going to be a World Racer!!!
Between now and August 2018 I’m going to be preparing, and I need your help. Some of the things I’m going to be doing are continuing to prepare spiritually, I’m going to be getting to know my teammates, preparing physically, fundraising and asking for support from people like you. I need your support and help for this trip to happen. First of all, my team and I need prayer. I ask that you pray for us as we prepare spiritually, mentally, and physically for the race. Along with prayer my team and I also have to fundraise. The total cost of the race is about $18,000. What does that $18,000 cover? The short and simple is answer is everything! Some specifics include things like: airfare, lodging, food, and my health insurance.
