Hey y’all!
My name is Cody Bates. I am a 23-year-old mechanical/engineering designer living in Columbia, South Carolina. I am excited to be able to share my journey of the world race with all of you!
Here are some fun facts about me: I love fishing, camping, working on cars, being a part of the worship team at my church, and spending time with my church family and friends. I also have black belts in Taekwondo and Judo. I grew up listening to country music. In fact, some of my favorite memories are from some friends and I sitting around a fire singing our favorite songs.
I have felt called to missions for a long time and have been doing them locally for a while, but I haven’t done anything internationally yet. As my interest in missions has grown over the past few years, God has begun to lay regions like Africa, Central America, and Southeast Asia on my heart. When the August 2018 destinations were released and I saw route 3, I immediately knew this was is where I’m meant to go because we will travel to all three regions God has been calling me to.
During my time preparing for the race and my journey on the field after I launch, I’m excited to share how God is working in my life with all of you.
