Training Camp Days 1-4
Day 1:
Get here to North Georgia and unpack. Put up my tent. Realize its HOTTTTTT!. Inside my tent is even hotter. Meet rest of my 70 person team. Eat dinner and then have awesome worship with Jonathan David Helser (sp). Michael Hindes, director of The World Race is our speaker for tonight. Have you ever asked yourself if what your doing is all there is? I did, and now I’m on the world race.
Day 2:
Got rid of expectations got rid of chains. Still camping. Still Hot. God is awesome.
Day 3:
Men separate from the women and become accountability partners and brothers and protectors and leaders. Swam across a lake. Went hiking to my camp site directly after swimming back across the lake. Went with all the other October racers to the waterfront to camp. We had tarps and made lean-to’s with them for shelter. We built a fire and cooked chicken wings and vegetables. We worshipped and prayed and worshipped and prayed and made declarations and it Was AWESOME!. The men promised to the women that we will be Godly Men for them. The women promised to us that they will be there for us when necessary. We hugged…a big group with no showers after sweaty hiking and smelling like a camp fire and lake water….we hugged. There is nothing like being hugged by 69 other people at the same time and nobody caring about anything other than the fact that they love you. Went to sleep late.
Day 4:
Hottest day yet. Before today it rained every afternoon for about thirty minutes or so and kinda, slightly cooled it off. But not today. It was hot and got hotter and then broiled. We worked all day on team building. As some of you know i will be broken into a group of 6-8 people that will be my team/family for at least the first month on the race. (They switch them up sometimes). I was in three different groups and any one of them will work. Our squad (the bigger group of 70) is so close that any of us would work well together. I have really learned to love and respect the way that they pick our teams though. They take our input after every exercise.
Day 5:
Just ate breakfast of pita and chai. Check back later to find out who my team is.
