It is official. Launch has started!
I arrived in Washington DC yesterday and began the process of learning the role of a team leader… I am so glad that God is infinite and patient. Looking back four years ago from when I first heard about the race, He has brought me so far in my faith. Even though I was not a Christian then, the Lord would not let me forget about this adventure…. and NOW I am leaving for Honduras this Friday around 6am!! (My mind is still blowing.)
I have to admit that I have teared up in the past couple of days knowing that I will be leaving my family and friends for an entire year (techincally 11 months). However, I know that God has called me to a new season in my life, where I will be with six amazing sisters loving on every person we meet and stretching us in every way possible. We ask for your prayers especially for us to remember that we are Daughters of the one and true KING.
As my squad/ team and I leave, we go in peace knowing The Lord is walking instep with us watching our every move and pouring out grace. The poem below describes the motives of my heart for the beginning of the race.
When you travel,
A new silence Goes with you,
And if you listen,
You will hear
What your heart would Love to say.
A journey can become a sacred thing:
Make sure, before you go,
To take the time To bless your going forth,
To free your heart of ballast
So that the compass (Holy Spirit) of your soul
Might direct you forward.
