I feel like I have already begun The World Race. I left home Wednesday after enjoying a great
Christmas with my family. With the week
off between my last duties at Church and Christmas I built a Dollhouse for my beautiful
Grand Niece Wrenn.

I loaded up on a lot
of my favorite foods (courtesy of my Mom and sisters). My Mom & Dad and Step mom, one of my
sisters and a nephew and his wife followed me all the way to the departure gate
at the Jackson, MS
airport. Not only that but my sister
(the teacher) made this nifty banner for me.

On the way to Jackson I
stopped at the Clinton, MS Starbucks (how cool is that?) and had a White
Chocolate Mocha with a fellow AIM’er Alex Ligget.

I’ve been in Ft. Worth
since Wednesday attending the Student Life Clarity Conference. If you’ve never heard the band Leeland, you
owe it to yourself to start downloading NOW.
Their music could be the soundtrack for The World Race. I met a Russian taxi-driver and all I can say
is he most definitely learned to drive in Eastern Europe!
Yeah, those lines on the highway… and
those turn signals… they mean NOTHING.

I have several friends and acquaintances at Student Life. I got to visit with some buddies I went
to Ukraine with
a couple months ago (Shout out to Drew & Ronnie). I met Chris Kinsley (his sister Kim just
finished WR06; I met his dad Steve awhile back at an AIM Retreat).

I met a super cool girl from Uganda. Jackie was sponsored as a child through Compassion International and is one of their first Leadership Development
Program Graduates. She’s in the States
promoting Compassion’s work and she’s an excellent spokesperson.

I also ran into an old college friend and fellow Mississippi
Student Minister Perry Pugh. I met some
cool kids from Richland, MS
in my hotel. I spoke with fellow WR07
Racer Brienna and a really old friend that lives near Ft.
Worth. Later today I will fly to Harlingen. The team should start arriving Saturday. We’ll all meet on Sunday afternoon and the
Race will be ON!
