Race day was pretty awesome.
Here are some highlights.
One of the tasks was to visit the Parque Del Amor (the Park
of Love). Notice the statue of the lovers! The teams had to find the inscription of two
famous lovers on the wall and take a picture before moving on to the next task-
a swim in the Pacific Ocean.

Another task was to find a Well that was full of Skulls in
the Catacombs under this 16th Century Monastery. A guide told us the catacombs connect several
downtown churches and government buildings and that thousands and thousands of
people are buried there.

The last task was to go to this cross that overlooks the
city. One of the providential things
that happened up top was that the bus that was to transport both squads to
dinner and back to our host church couldn’t navigate the steep street to the
top of the hill. We had to walk down
through a pretty tough neighborhood.
When we got to the bottom of the hill there was a dusty soccer field
where a bunch of boys were playing futbol.
Our bus was late (providence) and some of our guys started playing ball
with them. The whole community it seems
was out on their balconies and hanging out of their windows watching us. We had a great time and we prayed for the
boys before we left. Here’s a picture of
Annie with a couple of cute girls we met on our way down the hill. One was named Laura…I don’t remember the
other girls’ name.

Here are some pics of the city around the hill. There are a lot of makeshift, squatter
homes. One of these pictures looks
unreal…like a model or something.

We ended the day on the bluff overlooking the Pacific. We had a few minutes to visit Starbucks and
snap a few sunset pictures.
