So far I’m pretty pleased with the stuff I brought with
me. After buying and packing and
re-packing and then deciding to leave half of what I bought and packed behind…
I think I am pretty close to having the right stuff with me.

I ended up bringing a pair of blue jeans and a long sleeve
t-shirt with me that I hadn’t originally planned on. The Jeans were heavy so I left them in Palenque. I have actually needed the long sleeve
t-shirt a few times but I will probably cut the sleeves off at some point.

So here’s my official World Race wardrobe. I started with 7 pairs of undies I think… but
a dog in Palenque ran off with one
pair and chewed holes in another. I
probably have 6 pairs of socks. I have 4
quick drying t-shirts, one with a collar and one long sleeve, light weight
dressier shirt. I have one pair of khaki
dungarees and one pair of convertible lightweight trousers. I have two cotton t-shirts (the long sleeve
one and my World Race t-shirt). I also
have a pair of soccer type shorts and I bought a pair of swimming trunks in
Palenque. Good call!

I haven’t used my tent yet but I think Squad B is living in
their tents. I’ve used my silverware and
my small bowl everyday. I use my Nalgene
water bottle everyday (Attention Future World Racers- disregard what you heard
about not needing a water bottle- Bring ‘em!)

I’ve used my sleeping bag and pad every night- been sleeping
on the floor here in Aguilar. I like my
Teva sandals and my shoes are great. I
have too many toiletries. I started out
OK, but then grabbed everything in the two hotels I stayed in before entering Mexico. That stuff adds up weight-wise but I figure
it’s consumable.
