This might possibly my worst “written” blog. The reason is because we went to the amazing
Angkor Wat ancient temple ruins here in Cambodia
at sunrise this morning . . .which most of you know is kind of early for me!

The other reason is because there are a number of temple ruins
over a large area and they all have different names. I didn’t have a guidebook with me so I can’t
recall the names . . .all I can say is that they were all very cool! Parts of the Tomb Raider movies were filmed
here.

They all date back about 1000 years. There’s a lot of uncertainty about their origins. They are probably Hindu originally but later
commandeered by Buddhism. The rocks came
from a quarry 30-40 miles away and I think all the structures combined were
built over a 200-300 year period. Quite
the public works program!

Enjoy the pics and excuse the lack of real historical
commentary.

A shot down a hallway framing one of the temple spires

Pretty steep climb to the top at some of the ruins

My favorite temple site was overgrown in the jungle

One site featured over 200 of these “faces”       (just one of mine though!)

Another travel buddy, Tana, at Angkor Wat

At the exit of each temple site these little “vendors” were selling their wares and they were pretty irresistable.

I met these two and their little friend inside another temple site
