Dear future wife,
I’m allergic to babies.
Let me explain: Many of you probably know I’ve already been sick a lot on this trip. I’ve had food poisoning, a cold, and pink eye. Clearly not a great start, but wait it gets even better.
Most recently I got some kind of flu that knocked me down pretty hard for a few days. It wasn’t pleasant to say the least. But that ended and I thought I was good to go. I was wrong. Last night I looked down at my hands and I saw hives all over them and my torso.
Obviously hives are never a good sign but we had a bigger worry… Dengue fever. It’s basically a really bad flu for a few days. Then a few days after your feeling better your body breaks out in rashes. The scary part is that Dengue fever has a 50% mortality rate.
So there I am. Thinking that I must have Dengue since I’m following all the symptoms. I woke up our contact and he immediately took me to the ER. They diagnosed it as an allergic reaction, not Dengue fever. Praise God! Even better my ER bill was less than a dollar! The doctor gave me a shot and sent me on my way.
I got up this morning and all the hives were gone which is great except I didn’t know what caused the reaction. So I went through all the different possibilities with some friends and realized that everything that I ate and touched were not out of the ordinary. The only new factor in my day was that I had my first shift taking care of the babies.
So clearly through my man logic I came to the conclusion that I’m allergic to babies. Or at least one of the many chores that goes along with babies like changing diapers.
So this is me documenting this allergy so my future wife will believe me when I tell her she will have to change our kids diapers. I suppose it is possible that I’m allergic to something I didn’t think of, but babies seems way more likely.
