Today started the process of many more goodbyes to come over the next 10 months as we have just completed our first month on the race.
Our team left the Caballero family we have been staying with for the last couple weeks today. Last night, we spent a couple hours expressing our feelings for each other, shedding tears and laughter, and starting to say our goodbyes. This morning we had our final meal together before embarking on this new leg of the World Race. The bus ride today gave me some time to reflect on this occurrence that will be dealt with many more time throughout our time on the race.
Although each month we will say goodbye to more and more people, we also get to say hello to new people as well. This gives us more opportunities to strike up conversations with whom ever we meet and tell them about Jesus. One thing the family also taught us this past month, is to love each other and do it joyfully as well. The passage from Ecclesiastes 8:15 says “So i commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad” The joy that comes from living life with gladness is better than that of living with frustration or fear. Not only will we say goodbye and hello to people but also the landscapes and places we stay at.
These are some of the things we said goodbye to in Panama!
