I’ve announced on social media that I will be moving to Gainesville, GA next month! To be honest, I should’ve wrote a blog to announce it, but I was so excited and didn’t want to have to write a big, long blog before I could share this news. Here is that blog. Smile.

As most of you know, I launched on my original Word Race in July of 2013. During the ninth month of that Race, I was asked to Squad Lead another one when I was done. I returned home on May 31, 2014, stayed put for three months, and then launched on my second World Race as a Squad Leader for my beloved Gap A Squad. (I. Love. You. Guys.)

I never thought that God could top what He did on my first World Race, but oh man, did He ever. I learned so much about leadership, dependence on Him, the poison of comparison, honoring others, and the list goes on and on and on. Gap Year Squads stay on the field for nine months (not eleven), and the Squad Leaders stay on the field with them the entire time. I figured I had nine months to figure out what I was going to do next with my life; however, I didn’t think about it a lot because I wanted to stay present as a leader and knew that the Lord would reveal it to me in due time. And He did…the very last week of our trip. Funny.

I can say that I’ve always been interested in working for Adventures In Missions but didn’t know in what capacity. I knew there were many different positions but could’t tell you what a lot of them were. All I knew is that there were a ton of people supporting and working for us in the office while we’re on the field. For that, I’m so grateful. After talking to a couple of different people, I decided to apply for a certain position. I filled out the application and had a Skype interview while I was still on the field. During our Final Debrief, I was asked to Skype again. They said, “Clay, we know you applied for this position, but after talking to you, we think you’d be better in this position.” I felt a total peace about it and decided to move forward with that opportunity.

Once I returned home, I had to do a few more interviews. As of last Monday, I was officially offered the position of Squad Logistics Representative! Of course, I accepted. In a very tiny nutshell, I will be providing operational and administrative support for the logistics, financial, and risk management processes for World Race Squads who are on the field. I’m really excited for the next season of my life as a Georgia Peach!

God has proven Himself faithful over and over again, and with each passing chapter of my life, I have found it easier and easier to trust Him with my future. He has used each chapter to build on the one before it while setting me up for the next. Looking back at His faithfulness over the last two years makes me excited to see what He has next for His son.

It was decided that I’d move down there sometime before July 25th in order to meet the Racers who will be at that week’s Training Camp. They’ll be launching in September. I have a month at home, and I am using it to earn income to help with the move and to set me up for this next chapter as a whole. I am picking up shifts at the Two Rivers YMCA, watching three brothers Thursdays and Fridays, and doing some odd jobs like lawn care and painting. Man, I’m so grateful how the Lord has provided through these opportunities!

I have a few prayer requests to finish out this blog:

  1. I need to find a car. My Jeep died during the sixth month of my first Race. R.I.P. Jeepie.
  2. I need to find an apartment and roommates once I’m in Gainesville. I have a few leads, but please pray for favor.
  3. Since this is still considered a missions position, I will be expected to support raise half of my salary. Pray that the needed funds would come through.

If you are interested in supporting me financially, let me know. I will have more information for you soon! Thank you for your continued support whether it’s through relationship, prayer, or finances. I’m incredibly grateful. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] or call me at (563) 340-4861. God bless!
