Hey Guys! Welcome to my World Race blog! This is the intro from my “about me” page. I’m adding it here just in case.
For those of you who do not know me I am more than happy to share a little bit about myself with you!
My name is Claudia, I am 19 and currently living in Houston, Texas.
If I were to tell you I got here by accident, it would be the truth. But it isn’t the kind of metaphorical accident you might be thinking of. My story is more literal.
You see, before this amazing journey I was just a normal college freshman trying to make the most of my first semester with a full time job and full time classes. I had read about the World Race after graduating, of the hearts that had been touched, the lives that had been changed and it easily became a dream of mine. Everything that they stood for like sharing the grace and the love of the Lord with others around the world is everything I ever wanted to be. But with deadlines soon heading my way I decided to go to college. The simplest choice, yet the hardest route. I became so involved with my studies and work that I never had time to stop. At times where I usually guided others, I turned away. I never even made time to just stop and pray. My life in turn came first and I had put God second. This was never the plan, I knew that a change needed to be made, but what? So I prayed, and I prayed hard, for an opportunity to make that change. And that is exactly what happened.
An accident, something that no one would have ever expected, something known to be so tragic and painful. Yet, it changed my life in the most beautiful way. While driving to work one morning a man ran a stop sign and that’s all it took. I came back to consciousness to an airbag that had been deployed and my car totaled. The accident left me with the worst concussion I could have, without a car, and soon after without my classes. Thankfully my doctor had cleared my transcript of any failures due to the accident and I was set free. During my recovery while praying and wondering why this had happened to me I once again stumbled upon a blog from The World race and that is when I knew what I was being called to do. This was second chance and I was not going to say no this time around. So I sent in that application as a fast as I could. And you know what? The Lord is so good, because just a morning before my interview, I woke up with no sign of a concussion!
So here I am today, ready to go wherever He may call me. With my squad by side and the Lord guiding our paths, I am so blessed to say that I am finally here. And you can be too, I will be posting here more an more as we reach our launch and I would love to share every moment with you!
