This month my team and I are staying in a very small remote village in Cambodia about an hour south of the capital of Phnom Penh. We are working with a local man named Ra who teaches English to the local children out of his home. His home is basically this wooden shack that he lives in with 2 other families. It has been so amazing to live with these people and gets to experience some of these unimaginable living conditions (a hole in the ground for a toilet, cold bucket showers, and countless number of flies and other creatures everywhere, just to scratch the surface). However I wouldn’t want it any other way.
This month is an awesome month. Since we are way out in the middle of nowhere, there is nothing around: no Internet or even a store. However, I actually am thoroughly enjoying it. When you take everything worldly away, you are left with two options. Either you can do ministry which teaching the children English throughout the day and teaching them about Jesus at night, or spend time with God. This month has been awesome to spend the time that I am not teaching to be spent with God and diving into the Bible (starting in Genesis this month and seeing how far I can go this month).
So even though this is a very rough month because of living conditions the month is already off to a great start. Please be praying for my team and I this month that we remain healthy in these living conditions, God gives us the strength and right words to say to teach these children about Him, and that we come together as a new team.
