Sorry I haven’t blogged in awhile. Days here have been jam-packed. I am finally catching a relaxing weekend in Granda, Nicaragua with the squad and have some time to blog.

Month 3 has begun. Last week my team and I headed from El Salvador to Managua, Nicaragua. After a 17 hour bus ride we arrived for 3-day debrief with the squad. We then headed to Ometepe Island for the month of ministry.

This month my team is working with another L Squad team: Team Alethia. We are living and working at CICRIN: Christian Children’s Center. CICRIN is a non-denominational Christian home for needy children of Nicaragua located on Ometepe Island, in Lake Nicaragua, Nicaragua. They care for approximately 28 children who aer orphaned, abandoned, or were in danger in their homes.

CIRIN in Nicaragua

We have been doing several different things here. Most days consist of working in the mornings doing repairs around the compound. Things have included painting, sweeping, cooking, working in the school, hauling wood, and working in the massive garden. The rest of the day is spent relaxing, growing in our walks with God, and playing with the children.

It is truly an overwhelming place.  The orphanage sits right on Lake Nicaragua which the Lord blesses us with amazing sunrises and sunsets. It also provides us a great place to worship as well as a place to swim, which is a blessing after working hard in the Nicaraguan sun.

The island also is home to a huge volcano that can be seen from miles away, that we are hopefully going to climb on our day off. Several people on the teams have referred to this place as “paradise” as well as a “view of heaven”. This is going to be an amazing month.
