For all my family, friends, prayer partners, and financial supporters,
I am so excited to embark on this incredible journey with you all.
First, a little background:
I am twenty-six years old, and I have spent most of my life in Oklahoma, except for that four years in college when I headed south to Texas to get my Bachelors degree in English. I have an awesome family, one of the biggest blessings in my life. My parents live in southeastern Oklahoma near Lake Texoma, the perfect getaway on the rare weekends I have free. My brother is four years younger than me and is finishing his senior year of college and getting ready to go to law school.
I currently live in OKC and work for the Oklahoma City Thunder and KOCO 5 news. I love working in broadcast and was fortunate enough to learn a lot while volunteering and then working in the media department at my church for four years. About a year and a half ago, God was challenging me to take the limits off of Him and trust Him to do something bigger than I could imagine. Long story short, I moved to OKC when I got the job offer to work for the Thunder. I knew that was only the beginning of what God had in store, and when I first learned of the World Race, something in my heart came alive.
I’ve always admired missionaries as people who are willing to leave everything familiar to go truly live the Great Commission. I never thought that I would have the courage to do something like that, but God has been taking me through a process of learning to trust in Him to overcome my fears and doubts as I step out in faith. As I have made myself available to God and any of the big, crazy things He wants to do in my life, I feel more strongly than ever that God is calling me to something bigger than anything I can do on my own.
The World Race is not something I can do alone. But the beautiful thing is I’m not alone. I have all of you, who have in some way or another come into my life and helped prepare me for this journey. And most importantly, God is with me. I am so excited to partner with you all in this process! Please subscribe to stay up to date on my progress and follow along while I’m in the field!
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)
