Dear Family and friends,
The World Race is an eleven month mission trip where participants in squads of fifty, aged 21-35 travel to eleven different countries over the course of the year in order to serve in whatever ways are needed. Upon arrival to each country, the squad breaks into smaller teams usually of six individuals. Each team then partners with a local contact and is housed for the month.
My World Race squad leaves in July 2015. We will be traveling to:
El Salvador

Guatemala

Honduras

South Africa

Zimbabwe

Lesotho

Myanmar

Thailand

Cambodia

Mongolia

China

We will partner with orphanages, refugee camps, local churches, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking and other humanitarian organizations. The key reason that I was drawn to the World Race was because of its diversity. I love that I will have the opportunity to travel to eleven different countries, interacting with distinct cultures and serve others in a multitude of ways, over the course of a year.
Through the World Race, I anticipate a further deepening of my faith, learning more about different cultures, seeing new lands, enriching myself with people’s stories and reflections. I also hope to learn more of who God intends for me to be. Through serving others, I look forward to my personal and relational growth. I realize that my efforts will not change the world, but they may change one life. We are all called to serve in our own unique way. In the Bible in Proverbs 3:27-28 it says
“Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbour, Come back later; I’ll give it tomorrow, when you now have it with you.”
I am encouraged by these words to act, go and serve. I look forward to being surrounded by God’s creation and realizing that the world is much bigger and more glorious then I could ever imagine. I look forward to contributing my small part in God’s plan.
With love,
