I’ve always been in love with fall ever since I was a child. A part of me thinks it’s because I was born in the fall season, but as I’ve grown older, I’ve grown more fond of the imagery this season gives me in my walk with Christ.
Let’s dive in shall we!
In our every day life, there are seasons of change that may take place. These seasonal changes represent the way the leaves change color. As the fall season continues, the leaves start changing color. You may see bright red, yellow, purple, & orange leaves on trees while other trees you may automatically see them brown and shrivel up till they fall off.
You will have many fruitful seasons in your life that will look bright and give so much glory to the Father. You may also have a season of trials and changes and God is having you get rid of the old self and abandon your comforts in order for you to be able to give Him all of you for His glory.
As winter rolls in, trees go into a season of hibernation called dormancy. In this time, they are reserving their energy so they can stay living in the coming months. What does this have to do with our walk with Christ? I’m glad you asked. If the trees didn’t get rid of their leaves, the leaves would freeze up which would freeze the the whole tree and die. If you hold onto the things in our life that aren’t fruitful, you will be buried by the weight and there won’t be room for growth later on.
There is beauty in every season we go through and with each season the Lord delivers!
Whether it’s a bright and colorful season or a more dying to the things of this world season, God uses all seasons to grow you into the one He has called you to be!!!
WOW! Thanks God!
Ecclesiastes 3:1-12 explains this beautifully.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
What gain has the worker from his toil? I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live.
I want to share a story with you all.
As you know I Love fall. Every year I try to find the most perfect colored leaf. One that has no “age spots.” A couple weeks ago, I was laying in a field talking and laughing with some of my teammates when all of a sudden I saw the most yellow leaf EVER! It was perfectly colored and so so bright! I just had to get that leaf. Immediately I ran over to the top of the hill and began to examine the process of how to get this leaf into my hands. The leaf was just high enough I couldn’t reach it. So I went on the hunt and found a broken tree branch. This was it. I began to use the tree branch to lower the other branch that held the leaf. I was so close to grasping the leaf but I lost grip. I repeated this process a few more times but just couldn’t get close enough.
The same teammates I was sitting with walked over to help. We tried and tried but we weren’t tall enough to grab the leaf. There was another person who was watching us struggle and came over and asked if we needed help. With this persons help we were able to grab the leaf! We were all celebrating and laughing at how ridiculous we all looked in the moments before, but with that came a joyous feeling of celebration that followed. It took a village to get this leaf down, but the reward was worth it! I was able to keep this leaf or “the one” leaf I have been looking for ever since the fall season started.
As I’m writing this, the Lord reminded me of something. Whatever season you’re going through, there is always a joy and peace that is with you. If you partner with the Lord, He will be with you every step and He will give you a community to join the journey with you and encourage you. The Lord has plans for your life and He doesn’t want you to walk in them alone. He is with you always and with that He knows exactly what you need in those moments whether it’s a supportive community, time of prayer, time of weeping, He sees you and is with you and wants you to continue in the journey no matter how hard it may be.
