I could talk on and on about how while on the race, I’ve never had so much Panda Express, or how cravings for McDonald’s chicken nuggets pop up at the most random times. If I was back home, I would never go to those places, but I’m not home yet :))

I could end this blog right here right now with that answer about how the race changed my appetite, but that’s not my answer to the question.

Food is fuel for your body, an essential thing you need in order to live. Food gives you energy. It satisfies, it fills.

There are some foods that don’t fuel your body. Foods that are fillers but not fuelers. Foods that bring an unhealthy amount of sugar, fat, and salts.

Some cravings are miss leading. You may thing you’re hungry, but really your body is dehydrated and it needs more water. If you don’t drink lots of water, your body holds onto things in food that aren’t a necessity. Your body will hold onto water weight because you aren’t hydrating your body enough.

All of these things are true and have a similar meaning, spiritually.

I could eat all the food I wanted, but I will never feel satisfied if I’m not eating the right foods. I can drink lots of liquids that taste yummy and have lots of sugar, but in the end my body needs water.

When I read God’s word, my soul is being fed truth and live! My soul is being fueled by the power and authority the Lord has over my life and I get to take part in that authority. I’m energized and ready to go out to tell others about who God is! Being fueled by Gods word won’t ever leave me unsatisfied! It constantly brings new wisdom!

Jesus is the living water, and if you follow him, your soul will never feel thirsty again! The Holy Spirit lives inside of you and me! It fills our soul with living water (literally the Holy Spirit is alive in us!!!).

You see, my appetite after being on the race has changed spiritually! I’ve tasted and seen the goodness of God and his love for his children! When I go days without reading Gods word I begin to feel dull and turn to other things to satisfy, that don’t satisfy at the end!

God is the true source of life and living water!

And now I’m coming home hungry for more (in more ways than one haha… like literally I do actually have food cravings… God don’t be mad 🙂
