In Higerones we
were split into two groups.  One group
was building a trench that would hold the pipe for the bathroom that we were
building and the other group was tearing down an old run down church only to
rebuild it in another space as a temporary church.  Another nicer one was being built.  It was so neat to work side by side with
local Ecuadorians to serve these people.

We were there
for two full days and we completed the bathroom in one day and it was
working.  This was awesome for us too
because prior to that we were either using the bathroom basically just on the
floor and it would go through this little whole (sick) or we had to hike
through some mud to get to another one with toilet paper in hand- covered in
spider webs to use that one.  Oh side
note about bathrooms – you can’t flush toilet paper anywhere and most bathrooms
don’t even have toilet paper so you have to be prepared and sometimes there
isn’t water – which can be just nasty.

The other group
completed tearing down the church and began to build it on the first day.  We all helped the second day to complete the
church.  It was so crazy that we were
able to complete both of those things.
Definitely had the help of the Lord, expanding time.

I also helped
sort rice and shucked corn with the ladies.
It was kind of a joke because I know very little Spanish and I was
alone.  But we had some good
conversation, thanks to the Lord, patience, an English/Spanish dictionary and
laugher!
