We are here! Teams 1010 FIERCE and Decided have made it to Montrouis, Haiti!
After month one at Hope Mountain, we were given about 5 days to rest and process through what we had just experienced. AIM calls this debrief! During debrief, we have sessions as a squad, meetings as individual teams, worship nights, and one-on-one’s with our squad leadership team. It is a space for us to sit and take what we experienced during the previous month and give it completely to the Lord.
Basically, it was a few days of MUCH needed rest and time for personal evaluation.
Anyway, back to the updates…
Community :
Our teams will be serving in Montrouis, Haiti this month with the organization Supply and Multiply (S.A.M.). Our translators are AMAZING and such a joy to have with us! Their names are Shamma, Ben, and Dave. Shamma is as tall as a tree with the most tender heart, basically a gentle giant. Ben is a little sassy but he is also an AMAZING singer and learned English by listening to people speak! Dave is the biggest Justin Bieber fan I have ever met, he is so sweet and completely hilarious BUT he also has a huge heart for evangelism. It is such a blessing that we are able to learn and serve with all of them this month!
Ministry :
There are so many unique ministry opportunities available for us this month ranging through all generations of people! We get to lead the children of the community and other communities close by in VBS style events twice a week. We are also blessed to swim with them at the beach once a week. We are serving at Supply and Multiply’s Matthew 25 ministry which is a care facility for the elderly. Another area where we are able to serve is at S.A.M’s orphanage for children with special needs. There are a lot of needs in the community and I am so blessed that we get to serve in so many different ways.
Prayer Requests :
Please be praying for boldness as my team and I step out into the Lord’s calling for us this month. Pray for protection against the enemy’s lies as we evangelize in the community and lead church gatherings and children’s ministries. Pray for continuous good health since we are staying in an area that is known for malaria. Please pray for the Lord to continue showing me areas where I can grow!
TTFN, Claire
