Wow, the first half of the race is done and I’ll be home in 4 months and 1 week and 3ish days (after my detour to Cali). For the next month and a half my team and I will be working at a refugee center in one of the biggest slums in Costa Rica. This center provides classes, daycare and generally just somewhere for these people to go. Half of my team is working with women refugees from Nicaragua, making crafts, teaching English and building relationships. The other half are working with the children of the area. I chose to go with the kids because I have a soft spot in my heart for underprivileged children and I felt that the Lord was calling me to be there for them. We’ve only been at this ministry for a week but I’m already so excited for the next month and a half here so I thought I’d give you a little look inside my life.

Everyday is sometimes crazy but it goes a little something like this:

5:45: wake up,shower and get ready
6:50: eat breakfast
7:20: get on Alfredo’s bus and ride until he drops us off at our bus stop an hour away
8:20-8:45 (depends on traffic sometimes): catch another bus into the slum we volunteer in
9:30: the kids start rolling in so we start playing with them and doing crafts and stuff until lunch
12: rice and beans
1:00: pb&j sandwiches while we plan for the next day because rice and beans. Enough said.
2:30: after about an hour and a half of planning for the next day & or helping our hosts with loose odds and ends we get on the bus to go home.
4:00: we get home and I usually nap until dinner at 5
5:00: rice and beans and sometimes a little bit of chicken
7:00: team time
8:00: I go to sleep.

Repeat.

Everyday life on the race is exhausting but in the most rewarding way possible. My schedule seems simple on the outside but there are so many funny, sweet, and random moments in between that make it real and amazing. I’m excited to see what else the Lord has for my squad and I. Also huge praise, I’M FULLY FUNDED! Amazing. Thank you all so much for your support!
