As my hammock sways in the gentle Colorado breeze I close my eyes and soak in the warmth that I feel. I look over and see the cute townhouse on Timber Creek that has been my home for over a year. I’ve just completed a day’s work, as a Financial Analyst, the job that I pictured myself having every day in college. I’m content. I’m happy. I’m about to give it all up.
God speaks and moves in our lives in what occasionally appears to be the most inconvenient time but in reality his timing is always perfect. You see, for me contentment is a place of seeking, confusion, and restlessness. I don’t want to be simply content with my life; I want to be challenged, broadened, and changed.
This is what led me to The World Race. In times of restlessness I dream up big, wild, and somewhat crazy ideas that consistently and persistently flow through my brain at warp speeds. Eventually, however, something sticks. This time? The World Race. I instantly became fulfilled and knew that I found the right answer. I’ve experienced this feeling before: the time I decided to live and study on a ship that circumnavigated the world; the time I packed my car and moved to a new city I’d only visited for a day; the time I quit my job with no backup plan only to be hired at my current company 12 hours later; you get the picture. I’ve only ever trusted in the Lord’s provision for my life and every time it’s been exactly what I needed.
I hope you visit the World Race website (www.worldrace.org) to become knowledgeable about this adventure I’m about to leap into. For eleven months, I will be traveling Central & South America and Eastern Europe doing the Lord’s work. Check out Route 1 for the complete list of countries that I will be visiting and learn about them as well! Throughout the year I will be immersed in different acts of ministry, whether that’s: manual labor, utilizing my business skills, educating, evangelizing, teaching, or simply walking in prayer will be the decision of our ministry host.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a bucket of emotions ranging from exhilaration to downright panic. But all of that is nulled when I lean into the trust that I have in the Lord. Having the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in eleven countries makes trading in a life of comfort, familiarity, and material goods for a backpack, tent, and sleeping mat the most obvious choice I’ve ever made.
Thank you for taking the first step in following my journey by reading this. I look forward to updating you all about what God is doing in my life and the lives of others. My request is that you join me in prayer. Be a prayer warrior for me and most importantly for the Kingdom.
If you find that you are also led to support me financially, I will be forever grateful and humbled.
