Before, during, and after The
Race, I was often asked how or why I signed up for this crazy, 11-month
journey. I told many that I blacked out during the online questionnaire, lied
to the poor interviewer, and wanted, what I deemed, Bible thumper missionaries
to get a grip on reality. While those stances are the honest truth, I am
delighted to be embarrassed when looking back at my tainted, harsh perspective.
The reality is, He was
reconciling me; bringing me back to Him. As my fundraising once again
commenced, I began to dig deeper into how fundraising serves as a ministry.
This began by trying to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to truly
be an ambassador. Webster”s Dictionary defines it as “an
accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a
foreign country or a person who acts as a representative or promoter of a specified
activity.” In 2 Corinthians we read, “So we are Christ”s ambassadors; God is
making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to
God!”” We are authorized representatives of Christ; partnering with Him in His
glorious goodness to share with the rich, poor, hurting, despicable, healthy,
captured, bound, wanderers.
What a privilege!
This
reconciliation I underwent on The Race was an all-consuming, wholehearted,
no-strings-attached, homeward bound, compassionate love affair with Jesus
transformation. With this change comes a higher calling for my life full of
ambition, compassion, and intentionality. The Lord broke my heart for Cambodia
and continues to bring this country to mind on a daily basis. Many know that my
time there was both challenging and inspiring. Dealing with the injustice of
sex-trafficking head on brought my passion to see an end to this monstrosity to
the surface. God plants us in situations where our passions can be identified
and finds much joy in watching us live them out. If I held on to the punitive standpoints
I once had, this amazing reconciliation I delight in would not be
possible.
I
thank God for taking me to the broken places where I was brought to my lowest.
He met me there to take me higher. With that, I am saying yes again to where He
is leading”
I
will begin my CGA (Center for Global Action) journey on January 23. I will be
participating in the Missions track where I will learn what Jesus” model for
discipleship looks like for me and how to apply in on the mission field. The program is in Gainesville, Georgia at the
Adventures in Missions base. I will be assigned a mentor, apprenticeship, as
well as have the opportunity to volunteer with an after care center for
trafficking victims.
The
cost of the program is $3,950, which covers living expenses, classroom courses,
and various other costs. I have been working two jobs since being home as a
substitute teacher and the temporary Christian Education Director at St. Mark”s
in Easton, Maryland to help with all other expenses.
I
ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with as a fellow ambassador.
