I have been on The World Race for a little over a week in El Salvador! My team has the amazing privilege of working alongside a ministry contact who is our age and speaks fluent English. Oh yea…and we are a 5 minute walk for the beach! The beach town that we are living in is called El Tunco. This area is famous for having some of the best surfing in the world.

While it seems all posh and easy, we are doing some ministry while we are here. We partnered with a 20 something year old Canadian surfer named Elly. She comes down here multiple times a year to serve the community. A previous world race team met her when she was in town to surf and she ended up becoming a Christ-follower based on their witnessing to her. She helps sponsor different orphanages and ministries in the area. We have visited a couple of orphanages and played with the kids, took them to the movies and the beach, and started a discipleship program with the teenage girls. The children at these places are precious and are longing for affection. A lot of them began life in abusive situations of all different types. One of the orphanages we visited specialized in sexual abuse and even had multiple counsellors to help the children cope.

Our weeks seem to be pretty light during the week, but very busy on the weekends. We are staying at La Red church which reaches out to Christian surfers since they are shunned from most churches because of their long hair and laid back attitudes. Their service is on Saturdays so we packed everything in our packs and helped out with the service. That afternoon we took 75 orphans plus caretakers to the beach to play in the water and surf-it was a long day!

On Sunday we traveled to and conducted another service at another church. We have learned to just go with the flow because a lot of times they tell you to plan for 20, but 40+ show up!

The Lord is doing some amazing things down here along with providing some great west coast sunsets. I can’t even imagine the things he has planned for me!

*i was planning on posting pictures on here but the internet is too slow. I have posted some pictures to Facebook so go check them out there!
