I don’t know about you but I have been playing the song “the final countdown” in my head since yesterday in anticipation for this week…my last week at home. I decided for this blog I would do the top ten things I’m going to miss as well as the top ten things I’m most excited about. These are the two questions that I have been asked the most in the past 7 months and more often in the past couple of weeks, so for all of you that are interested or were wondering…here you go!
I am going to miss…
10. My cell phone (yes I realize this may be material but it’s my main source of communication with my friends)
9. Sleeping in my own bed
8. My mousey (a “used to be stuffed” animal I have slept with since I was a baby…yes I still sleep with it every night, no judgments please)
7. SWEET TEA (yep Southern girl all the way!)
6. Texas sunsets
5. HEB and Wal-Mart…oh the convenience of a store with EVERYTHING you could possibly need
4. Going for runs (alone)
3. Having Girl Days with my sister and mom
2. Giving big bear hugs to my dad (yes that’s how I got my nickname, clairebear)
1. Celebrating holidays with my family (we have crazy awesome traditions that I will try to uphold as much as possible on the race…get ready team!)
I am most excited about…
10. Getting to see and experience 11 different countries
9. Eating new food (I have been given the challenge to find the best rice dish…challenge accepted!)
8. Serving different ministries and pouring into the people involved
7. Seeing God’s miracles take place!
6. Building community!
5. Totally surrendering my expectations and ideas about what’s “normal” and what’s “comfortable”
4. Holding lots and lots of babies!
3. Hearing stories and telling mine
2. Seeing God change hearts and watching people be saved through His grace!
1. Watching the Lord grow and stretch my team and the people in J squad helping us to continue becoming the men and women He’s called us to be as we die to ourselves and be filled up with His Spirit!
So there you have it! I’ll write again before I leave for Chicago! The countdown has begun!
