We finally made it to Zambia!!!  After 6 days of travel we are finally settled in Livingstone.  We left Atlanta on Thursday January 9th, flew to Detroit, Michigan then had an 8-hour flight to Amsterdam, The Netherlands and then another 8-hour flight to Nairobi, Kenya!  It felt great to get to Africa however we had a 12-hour layover there.  We dominated one area of the airport and all were lying around sleeping on the tile floor or watching movies or reading for a long time! Then the next morning, January 11th, we flew from Nairobi to Lilongwe, Malawi.  The next three days we traveled to new cities staying at different hostels where we stayed in our tents and camped.  It was amazing how many people and packs we were stuffing into small vehicles!  Every time we got into a bus or van we were crammed in and sitting on each other laps!  From Lilongwe we crossed the boarder into Zambia and it took about 10 hours for all of us to exit Malawi and enter Zambia.  So that night, it was great to make camp in Chipata, Zambia.  The next day we took a 7-hour bus ride to the capital of Zambia, Lusaka.  By the time we got there we had to make camp again because the next bus to Livingstone was the next morning.  So again the next morning we packed up and took a 7-hour bus ride to Livingstone.  When our ministry contact, Pastor Sanderson (or Sandy), picked us up from the Livingstone bus stop and took us to our home for the next couple weeks, we finally felt a peace.  Honestly, I enjoyed all the travel days except the packing and unpacking everyday, not being able to settle at all, and the ants in Malawi that decided to share my tent.

Here in Zambia my team, Team Meno and Team Without Borders, which is a team of 5 women, are doing ministry and life together.  It has been such a joy to share this experience and house with them.  When Pastor Sandy picked us up, he took us to our house (pictured below) for the next couple weeks.  When we saw it and went inside it felt like a resort.  There are 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (but 1 shower), a living room, kitchen, dining room and a large screened in porch that we use as a 6th bedroom!  We have already been able to have great times in this house, hand washing laundry together, playing games, worshipping and crying from laughing so hard!

Wednesday and Thursday mornings we started our ministry!  Team Meno went to a compound called Libuyu where a lot of Pastor Sandy and his friend Pastor Teddy’s church members live.  We split into teams and walked through the compound praying and giving encouragement to church members.  Chris and I were in a group with Pastor Teddy and have learned so much from him already!  He is an amazing man of God who is so loving and compassionate for his church and its members.  One of the most amazing moments we had was going to a church member’s house where the 2 year old son is really sick.  He was born with a soft neck and has not been well his whole life.  He also has bad sores around his mouth and legs.  It was so powerful to be there and give encouragement to the mother and pray over the boy.

On Wednesday night we were able to attend the prayer service at Pastor Sandy’s church!  It was so cool to introduce ourselves and feel so welcomed by this church family!  They were so excited that we have finally made it; they had been anticipating our arrival for a while.

I am already in love with Zambia!  The people are so friendly and have beautiful spirits and smiles! I am so excited to continue doing ministry!

Thank you so much for all your prayers and blessings!  I can see them working already!
