We circled together under the candlelight. Aside from one of my squadmates, there were about nine young orphan girls, a baby boy, and a housemother. We dug into the delicious corn sadza and well-seasoned chicken that they selflessly shared with our hands.
Does anybody have a song?
One of the girls started singing, and everybody followed along. It wasn’t familiar but we caught on through the repetition. I closed my eyes and praised Him for who He was. Our hands came together in a steady rhythm and voices blended together, lifted and singing to Him. From the outside, the differences between us were like night and day. But we were praising one God with one truth, and that made us more similar than any life circumstance or outward appearance.
We were simply His children.
I immediately sensed His Spirit in the room and smiled. This was quite possibly one of my favorite moments on the Race.
