The following are the expectations of World Racers:

  • Ready for God to show up
  • Ready to live in authentic community
  • Ready to change
  • Ready to expose and deal with the past
  • Ready to have a positive attitude

It’s a very high level view; I know that I shouldn’t have specific expectations but to be honest, I already do.

I have expectations of the general countries and continents I’ll be going to.

I have expectations of what my peers will be like.

I have expectations of the conditions I’ll be living in.

I have expectations of how training camp will transform me.

The more I read the countless blogs from past racers, the more expectations I have. And I’m scared that I’ll be disappointed by those expectations. These past few days leading up to training camp (T-minus 3 days!), I’ve been praying and mentally preparing myself to have any expectations shattered. And praying that I won’t respond bitterly if and when it happens. I know that God has big plans–plans that might not look like mine–and I gotta trust in Him in this journey.

P.S. I’m $945 away from my second deadline on December 15. It would be amazing to get there by the end of the month (or even by end of training camp next week!). If you’ve been meaning to donate but keep forgetting or feel led to, I hope you will do it right…now 😉
