I’ve been a slacker. I haven’t actively tried to fundraise since my last deadline, and the next deadline is creeping up in just about a month already. Last week was ridden with sleep deprivation due to sickness, and as you can tell by my last post, it ended with shock and heartache. It was physically and emotionally draining.
We are constantly being bombarded with distractions in our lives, and I feel as if God is telling me to focus. I still am having a hard time discerning His voice, but as I was praying last night about this upcoming week, I heard, “be my child.” And I’m going with it.
The theme at youth group yesterday night was about disciplining ourselves, and I was reminded that we should lift every morning up to Him. If we don’t–if we just go to church on Sundays and sing some songs and hear words that we forget the very next day–if our lives are not intentionally trained to have a real relationship with Him–we might lose sight of His command: to live in love and make disciples of others.
If I forget about His grace,
I might get frustrated and yell at people for making mistakes instead of showing some compassion and understanding. It’s life. We’re human.
If I forget His generosity,
I might be hesitant to donate to charities or overlook the homeless guy on the street asking for money. I have food, shelter, an education, resources and connections…He’s already given me more than enough.
If I forget His goodness,
I might always focus on the negatives in life and constantly be in a cranky mood. He’s brought about so much GOOD in my life, and I might forget to share Him with others when He asks me to.
If I forget His power,
I might be a little too dependent on myself and others–to think they can heal me, make me whole, love me in a way that I need to be loved, etc. Like I said, we’re human. We are not perfect.
I AM His child, and I need to not lose sight of that as I live out each day. And I can’t forget that He’s asked me to go on this World Race journey. I can’t let this drown in everyday distractions. I’ll be continuing to ask people to partner with me so that lives can be transformed everywhere. That we can bring some of that healing and restoration into the world now. I am still so excited for this new season of my life, and I want to share it.
If it’s speaking to you, I encourage you to subscribe to these blog posts on the left. I encourage you to financially contribute online or by sending a check (you can ask me for specifics). I encourage you to pray for my team and squad, and I encourage you to reach out to me with your own prayer requests.
