Jonathan
shared some incredibly encouraging thoughts with us as he led
worship. One in particular that really hit home with me was the
analogy he used to describe our relationship to God as our Father.
The typical American kid, when playing outside and hungry or thirsty,
doesn’t come inside and say, “Father, if you find me worthy, I
beseech you to have grace on me and grant me something to quench my
thirst and quell my hunger. No, the child just comes in, goes to
the refrigerator or pantry, grabs what he wants, and goes on his way.
As Kingdom children, we don’t need to ask if we can have something of
the Lord’s, be it power, strength, love, whatever it is we need.
Because of Christ, we can just “grab whatever we want, because
we are His, and what He has also belongs to us!

Furthermore,
just as girls twirl around in dresses and skirts before their fathers
in hopes of being told they are pretty, seeking affirmation in who
they are from their father, girls are made to hear that we are
beautiful, and guys are made to hear “well done, from our
heavenly Daddy. He defines our identity and speaks it over us when we
come to Him. May we seek the truth of God, who is fully and eternally
good, rather than succumb to the lies of this world and Satan.

Let
us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain
mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
