My dear subscribers, this post is intended to give you a brief glimpse into the experiences I have had thus far at training camp. I am planning on turning many of the almost constant journal entries I have written over the last several days, documenting my experiences and what I have learned here, into blog posts over the next week or so, though I must warn you now that I may be making almost one post a day for a few days in order to share all that I have experienced here. Before getting into specifics, however, I will start with a more general post describing my thoughts regarding my squad (good, I promise!).

At most Christian retreats, conferences, churches even, that I have attended throughout my lifetime, I have found a common theme of social class and ethnicity among the attendees or participants. My experience here at training camp has been quite different from the experiences of my past, though. I love the variety of people I have seen and met at training camp, from various backgrounds to various styles of worship, each designed and designated by the Lord, representative of His variety and the individual roles of each member of His body. Nonetheless, even before camp, I noticed through the blog posts of my squadmates that God had begun creating a common heart and mind among our squad. That has been shown even more clearly this week, as well as the development of a distinct identity to our squad. One squadmate related to me a little while back how a previous World Racer described to her and a few other of our squadmates that gathered one weekend for a pre-camp get-together that each squad has a distinct, unique identity and journey. I already see that of my squad developing, and I’m excited to see where God takes us and how He grows and builds us over the coming year. More to come soon!
