There are
mixed feelings as I wrap up these last few days of college. I had my last day
of college classes yesterday (whaaat?!?), will finish exams a week from
yesterday, and two weeks from today will graduate college…wow. College was
never going to get here, and now it’s about over! A year ago I couldn’t fathom
leaving Clemson…but I believe that I am finally ready for this new season in my
life to begin.
Today is
officially one day short of one month until training camp…another crazy
thought! I’ve gotten to connect with some awesome, solid teammates over the
last few months, and as those relationships continue to be built, it is
abundantly clear to me that God has hand-picked our team to be together. I am
so blessed to be traveling the world and partnering with these men and women of
God in sharing the name and love of Christ with the world over the coming year!
(And to my supporters reading this, I want to thank you once again for your
support and partnership in this ministry. May God bless you for it; we couldn’t
do it without you!)
As to the
subject of this post, however, something God has been teaching me recently is
the importance and significance of worship. First off, worship isn’t just
singing in a service – worship is a lifestyle. Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your
heart as unto the Lord and not unto men.” We are called to worship God in
everything we do. That being said, I think back to Joshua and the walls of
Jericho, how pretty much just through obedience and praising the Lord, the
walls of the impenetrable city were brought down. God brought the victory; all
the people had to do was follow His command and worship Him. I have found
recently that as I sing praises to the Lord, all fears and anxieties I have
fade away, my confidence in the Lord grows, and I am ready to take my place in
the battle! So, this is in essence a battle cry. I am first asking again for
prayer over my teammates and I as we are in our final days of preparation and
preparing to embark on the coming year. Pray for our protection and guidance
and that the Lord would provide for all our needs, particularly financially at this
point, as many of us still do not have all the funds we need to be able to go
but are trusting the Lord to provide.
My role and
position right now, besides sitting at the Lord’s feet, learning from Him and
letting the Master Potter shape this mound of clay, is to worship Him, because
He has already gained the victory. I’m going to end with a poem, or my own
version of a psalm, which I wrote a little while back and I believe is fitting
for this occasion. God bless!
I sit in the stillness
And I feel Your presence
Closer than my skin.
Peace infiltrates my pores
Calm stills my mind
My heart is at rest.
You hold the keys to death
You are the Source of life
I am in awe of You!
King of kings, Lord of lords,
Victorious Warrior,
Essence of love eternal –
You love me; I am Yours.
Sovereign over all,
Nothing can take me from You.
Let the storms come;
Let the mountains stand;
My God lives!
