God loves us in many different ways. Sometimes it is as big as receive complete healing or financial provision; sometimes it is as little as someone’s smile or hug. I wrote this post to count all the blessings and how God loves big in small ways. I apologize that my writing may not be well structured in this post but here it is.
God’s love is shown when:
-
My team read the scriptures of love in the Bible.
-
The Carroll’s gave us a list of contacts so we can have places to serve.
-
God led us to two non-profit organizations: BFR Click here (Best Family Rwanda) and HTH Click here (Hope on a Thousand Hills).
-
The way that all BFR staffs gave their best effort to serve the children and their families.
-
Every BFR staffs made us to feel like a part of their team when they already have a lot of works to do everyday.
-
They drove us over and over again so we didn’t need to worry about transportation.
-
Groups of children came to hug us didn’t want to let us go.
-
Tayrn and Matt (my teammates) decided to sponsor few of the children from BFR and took them to a park.
-
Tayrn took some of the kids to get HIV tested.
-
Jean Claude (Director of BFR) gave me an opportunity to see what a true servant looks like and always made us laugh.
-
They bought us lunch.
-
People put others’ needs first and didn’t ask anything in return.
-
We met with the women sewing group of BFR and saw how they worked.
-
Liz (my teammate) sent out emails with each of our skills so the organizations can put us in the best serving positions possible.
-
God used me (technical), Wanzie (writing) and Liz (photography) to redesign the website for HTH.
-
Liz spent all those hours on taking and editing photos for the 2 organizations and our hosts.
-
Wanzie took the time to interview HTH staff and rewrote the material on the website.
-
I saw how much effort the staff puts in everyday.
-
We were taken to the school on the mountain and witnessed how 100+ kids were taught by only 2 teachers.
-
We were taken to the farms and saw how agriculture improved people’s lives.
-
Everyone in my team took care and built each other up.
-
Each of us sharing a word from the Lord everyday.
-
Few of them sat down in a jewelry store and spent hours to talk to Abraham (the owner).
-
Walter (teammate) went out of his way to buy the material to fix a light in the Gilley’s house.
-
Matt bought small gifts for the ladies on valentine’s day.
-
Dakota (squadmate) wrote letters to everyone in my team.
-
Walter came rescue me when I almost drown in the lake.
-
My team constantly gave me compliments on how well I did on the website.
-
My team prayed and encouraged me before the Sunday I led worship in church.
-
The manager of a supermarket bought me and Walter food and got to know our stories.
-
Eugene (coffee shop owner) gave me a free coffee and treated me like his friend.
-
Our hosts treated us as if we are their families.
-
My team cooked for me.
-
God provided a taxi when we needed it late at night.
-
Tayrn planned and organized our travels and budgets.
-
The locals taught me their language.
-
We had no idea where to do ministry and God orchestrated it perfectly for each of us.
-
Brandon Walsh (Managing director of HTH) preached about the importance of loving our enemies.
-
Every single small act of kindness I received in month 2.
-
My mom helped me to maintain my mess back at home.
God uses small things to make a big impact. Small acts with great love can change someone’s life. Perhaps you may feel unappreciated because no one notice all the little hard works you have done, but I promise you that God knows and He will reward you. Love small in a big way today.“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” Luke 16:10
