Now that we are settling in to our home away from home in Frutillar, Chile I wanted to share a little bit about the beautiful ladies I will be walking along side during the race. If you click on their names it will link you to their individual blogs which will show you where they are at with their fundraising as well as their thoughts and processing through the next 11 months. I want to invite you to subscribe to their blogs and see each of their individual and unique relationships with the Lord and all that he is doing in their lives.
It has been so amazing seeing the things the Lord has already done within my team! The strength and love and personalities has been such a blessing and heart filling experience! And it has only been 4 days!!!
Abby Thornburg (Team Leader)
This is our Alumni leader who will be doing life with us for the 1st two months. She has been on the World Race before and volunteered to come back and share her strength and knowledge with us.
Philippians 2:4 not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Abby has shown this verse in every aspect of her life sine day one of knowing her. She has been such a selfless and giving soul to each and every one of us. She came off of her own race and went straight into a class that took her through how to further use everything she had just experienced and learned over that year away. She graduated from that class two weeks before joining us on our launch time. She has done nothing but give to this organization, to other staff members, to us, and to the Lord. What a true blessing she is to have by our sides in prayer and in travel.
Aubrey Biddle
Aubrey is a 20 year old, beautiful soul that has the sweetest soul. She came to the World race fresh out of college and is originally from Denton, Maryland.
Timothy 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
Aubrey is the youngest on the team but brings the most light and joy when she enters the room. Her sweet personality and kind words bring the light of the Lord into every conversation. We are so blessed to have and to know her.
Riley McHenry
Riley is a spunky, colorful, and joyous soul. She is 25 and has joined our team from Colleyville, Texas.
Isaiah 12:6 Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.
This verse embodies Riley as a person. She is always dancing, singing, and praising Jesus. She brings all the energy into the room and rubs it onto anyone she talks to. her fearless running towards the Lord and the way he has called us to love others is such an inspiration!
Shelby Ross
Shelby is a knowledgable and passionate 21 year old. Before joining the race she lived in Atlanta Georgia.
Ephesians 4:15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.
Although she is new to the faith she is so full of the spirit. She is able to bring such amazing perspective and question to the group. She is not afraid to teach us and ask us the thought provoking questions which drives us all to dig deeper and learn about who God is to us.
Alicia Franzen
Alicia comes from the sunny area of Tampa Florida. She is 24 years old and has just come off of an 11 month trip through AmeriCorps where she traveled and served within the United States.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go
Alicia was asked at the end of our summer training to be our team treasurer. She was nervous but willingly accepted the position. As I watch her pile through receipts and budget sheets she has shown such sacrifice and strength through it all. She has given up her free time, some sleep and lots of brain cells over the stress that this job entails. I am so encouraged by her willingness to take this position that the Lord has given her and how she has so courageously run with it.
Rebecca Harper
Rebecca is a 23 year old full of wonderful ideas and motivation to get out and serve the Lord. She joined our team from Louisville, Colorado.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Rebecca had some reservations at times about coming along on this trip but boy am I glad she finally saw what the best choice was! She has been such an asset to our team with her ideas and excitement for our placement. The Lord has given her such a talent in the fact that she is able to speak Spanish so well that it has allowed us excellent communication as we have been in Chile! We are so thankful for her willingness to use this gift to further the kingdom, and help us other gringos out!

Our teams are subject to change at times over the next year but I am so thankful that the Lord has placed this group of women in my path for this time. Although we have only been together for a short time we have grown so close and been able to uplift and help others where needed.
Please continue to pray that God will allow us to grow together in the good and the bad and that we can be vulnerable with each other through everything. Also continue to pray for the multiple missions we will be working alongside while in Chile! (more on that to come later)
