Our last week serving at Mission of Hope in Haiti, we had the privilege of working alongside some college students from New Hampshire and surrounding areas. Matt, Emmy, Michael, Becca, Shophe, and Mr. Steve joined us on the beach property for a lively week of adventure and work. Together we painted concrete walls, built a few tarp houses, played soccer with some local kids on the beach, had the orphans over for a fun-day to the ocean, worked on electrical stuff for the beach house construction, enjoyed worship time – and watched lightning storms/starry nights whenever possible.

I was thankful to encounter such a lively bunch from the north – to talk about home with – and to practice living out a culture of honor and serving one another. It was a privilege to work alongside and to get to know this beautiful bunch of brothers and sisters (from not to far away from home). I love the Lord’s sense of humor, and how He always supplies just what we need. Mr. Steve was a great fatherly example to all of us, and his practice of operating in grace – through word and deed helped many of us learn new things (like how to swim in deep ocean water) or why ships sail by every afternoon. This team’s passion for the people of Haiti and empowering/equipping them with skills/tools to change their country humbled and blessed me.

We also were blessed to have another honorary member with our team for a week – Kaiko (a sweet sister in the Lord) came to Haiti on her own for a week – and immediately became family. It was a blessing to spend time with her!
