I met this woman at church last Sunday.
Her name is “Grandma Anna”.
She greeted me everyday this week with a hug, kiss, and traditional Czech greeting, “Ahoy!”
Her smile is contagious – and when she walks in the room, grace and gentleness dance around her.
Our World Race team was introduced along with Legend (an Indiana ministry team/hiphop group).
As we were introducing ourselves, the Lord prompted me to make our team available for praying for people.
At the close of the service Pastor Jon (from the Indy team) gave an invitation for people to be prayed for.
We were called forward, and this was the first woman I saw and felt led to speak with.
Clad in her church sweater, she smiled at me – but I could see sorrow and desperation in her eyes.
I started to speak to her – and quickly realized no translators were near, so I took her hands and we began to pray.
The Lord showed me this woman was a mighty woman of faith – His daughter whom He is proud of.
I could see that she fights for her family – and that the Lord’s joy truly is her strength.
Stress has taken a small toll on her mind and physical health, so I asked the Lord for healing – and immediately after we prayed I could see in her face and countenance a wave of relief wash over her. Her heart was filling up with more of the Lord’s love and promise as she stepped out in faith – and despite language barriers, we were united in Spirit.
A few minutes after praying for this woman – I was approached by my friend Alena.
Alena speaks English, and Grandma Anna wanted to have my prayers translated for her.
This was a beautiful opportunity to speak life and destiny over her family – her – and God’s work in her heart!
We became instant friends – and saw each other almost every day this week at NO COMMENT functions.
Yesterday in church, she approached me with a small silky bag. She smiled at me and played charades to show her heart and my heart – (there was a heart key-chain to represent this) + a small card with a bright yellow, smiling sun. She motioned that I shine like this sun – and make her heart smile.
It was a precious moment – where my heart briefly understood Czech.
Somehow – the Lord gave me Grandma Anna to speak love and life into me – and though we never spoke a sentence of each others language, the communication our hearts shared was deeper – and totally of the Lord!
Thank you Jesus for Grandma Anna!
(Please be praying that her son and his wife/family come to faith in Christ! We’re believing it will happen!)
