This title means, “Everything is possible with God” in Spanish. This has been our motto since day one in Honduras, and even after the crazy ups and downs of our past few days, it still holds true. No attack from Satan will slow us down . . not for long at least. Let me see if I can communicate all of this in an understandable manner. Again, bear with me.
The end of last week was amazing, and I have learned so much about God’s faithfulness. We continued teaching English classes in El Horno, and began more intense ministry in Los Pinos at the colegio. We painted graffiti at the colegio, which was initially done bygangs in the community, we played games with both the children and adults, and I met the first kid who has completely stolen my heart and I would just love to bring home with me. The Los Pinos boys stayed both Friday and Saturday night with us because they love it here at La Finca. They can be themselves here, it is a safe haven for them, and it is just more fun for them they say. My team also had some great feedback time, in our hammocks I may add. We discussed how God will equip us to do the uncomfortable in all of these situations we have been in, and we have to just keep reminding ourselves of this truth. Also, that our time here in Honduras is not about
us at all. People were here before us and will come after. This is such a great reminder of humility.
We also had the opportunity on Saturday to make plans for this week in El Horno and Los Pinos. We now have a more specific schedule, and specific programs to implement in Los Pinos. These include activities and lessons for both the children and adults. Although we have our personal ideas and areas of interests, we ultimately give these to God, because he knows the
needs of his children better than we do. Also on Saturday we had the opportunity to meet the owner of La Finca and his sons. Each of these being godly men, so it turned into an interesting meeting of us getting to know their hearts and vision for this place and how we can be a part of that during our time here. Also, they had a chance to hear our hearts and reasons for being here, and even a little about the boys of Los Pinos as well. It was an amazing time testimony and fellowship. The owner said something I loved in regards to our ministry with the boys.“Teach them how to fish, don’t just give them fish.” No matter how much we give, give, give . . what good will that do for their souls? Not a thing. We want to plant seeds here, even if we don’t see them uproot.
Sunday morning my team (minus Allan) got to visit La Roca, a Spanish speaking church in Los Pinos. We took the bus to meet Tony, the boys, the mother, and grandmother there. Although I had absolutely no clue what they were singing or speaking the entire time, I could feel the Holy Spirit in that place. That’s the amazing thing about our God. His love and presence isn’t limited to language or nationalities. It was truly an honor to see the boys and their mother worship in complete abandonment.
With all of this said, we were pretty hyped up about ministry for this week. We all seemed to be rejuvenated and excited to implement our ideas. However, that soon took a turn. I have had a difficult time sleeping, which is totally when I believe Satan attacks me. Also in a span of 24 hours, 5 of us, including myself, became pretty ill. Nevertheless, Allan and I gained a pretty good story and our patience was tested from a 2-night stay in a Honduran hospital from Sunday night until Tuesday. On top of all of that, we’ve had issues with the water pipes, washing machine etc. etc. Satan can try all he wants, but the fire is still inside of us. Pray against the attacks of Satan, and claim the truth that “Todos es possible con Dios”.
