Born and raised in the mountains of North Carolina, I am a true ‘Carolina Girl.’ I’ve been blessed with an awesome Christian family who have always stood behind me and supported me. My mom has been a huge influence on my life and has always been my rock.

During my free time (which I don’t ever seem to have a lot of) I love to watch completely mindless stuff on TV, like ‘Friends’ which in my opinion was one of the greatest shows ever, or reality shows or re-watch romantic comedies for the 100th time.

During the winter term of my senior year in college, I studied aboard in London. While in London, I felt the Lord calling me into the mission field.

But at the time, I didn’t even know anyone who had done a mission trip.

Looking back now, I can see how God put circumstances and people in my life to help prepare me to enter into the mission field.

Last spring I took the plunge into foreign missions when I went on a two week mission trip to South Africa. Foolishly I thought I would be going to South Africa to ‘help’ the South Africans, when in reality they ‘helped’ me.

My heart was changed forever after spending just a few hours with an abandoned child who had no name and no one to hold her. But her smile was so amazing although she had nothing, she was one of the happiest people I had ever met. Since that trip I have had a heart and burden for orphans. People kept telling me that the trip would change my life, but I didn’t actually think it would. Boy, was I wrong….

I am so excited about the World Race! I can’t wait to see what God is doing around the world and to be a part in spreading His love and His word to so many people! I think this trip is a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity to learn so much about God, myself and where God wants me in the future.
