Last Friday God used the simplest of circumstances to show that even in the midst of the crowed, no one can go unnoticed by Him. A few of my squad mates and myself who live within a few hours of each other had decided to meet up in Chattanooga. We were originally going to meet up in Nashville but it didn’t work out. At this point I had only known my squad mates (Those who will be joining me on the Race) for a week and a half via video chats yet a connection had already been made. I cannot fully put it in words, but from the very first time I met each of them, we immediately made a deep connection. We genuinely love each other. One of the first times I chatted with a few of them, we all began to prophesy to each other about the lives of one another. Every word hit dead on. I thought, “How could this be? These people don’t even know me.” The only explanation I have is the Lord gave us a supernatural connection. Things such as this began happening everyday and our faith increased with each word.

Fast forward back to last Friday. We met up, greeted, and begin talking as if we had known each other for years. We exchanged stories and talked about the Race. I could feel the presence of God thick in the air. One of my squad mates, or as I’d rather say, friends, suggested that we go down the walking bridge. We thought about driving, but decided to walk instead. While wandering around the streets trying to find this bridge, we noticed a homeless man with ratty cloths and matted hair. His name was Michael Williams. He was asking people for spare change so he could by himself food. We literally ran up to him. When he asked, we told him we didn’t have any cash to give him, but we would love to pray for him. He looked shocked. Michael said yes and told us that he believed in God and Jesus. When we asked what to pray for specifically he replied, “I just want a job but no one will hire me.” He communicated that he didn’t like begging and wanted to support himself.

We began praying over him and spoke truth into his life. He wept. We then asked Michael if we could buy him food but he told us we had already done enough. He began to open up and said he had done a lot of bad things and didn’t deserve it. We replied by telling him who he was in Christ and that his sins had been blotted out. We asked him where he wanted to eat but he would not go in a restaurant because he was embarrassed. We said we would bring it to him if he would tell us which restaurant to go to. He told us he was new to the area and didn’t know. He then said a burger would be nice. While one of my friends put in the order and another continued to talk with him, I began making phone calls. I called friends who I knew lived in the area trying to get him connected to the Chattanooga church plant that my home church planted recently. I told them what was going hoping they could help him find a job. I then gave Michael the church’s contact info and address. We left him with blessings and hugs and continued our journey to the bridge.

God continued to blowus away for the rest of the night through answered prayers and blessings. We said our goodbyes with full hearts and high expectations of what God was going to do through us. This is only one of the stories that we have experienced. Even though we haven’t left the states for the World Race, God is working through us as a group and in our individual lives to bring Himself glory.

I ask that you would partner with me by helping to provide the funds I need to fulfill God’s calling for the next year of my life. By doing this you will be investing in my relationship with Christ while helping others who are hurting. You will also be helping to increase the number of people you aid in leading to Christ by sending me.
