This was the backdrop to a conversation I had with my friend Daniel Thornhill and fellow V Squad member, on our last night in Antigua, Guatemala at our Month 5 debrief. We were standing there discussing life, the Lord, and the last 5 months of The World Race….where they’ve gone….what we’ve done….and what the future holds for the next 6 months. As we’re standing there I made a comment to Daniel…I said, “You know, it blows my mind to think that God gives us the power to move that mountain…well that volcano.” To which Daniel paused for a moment and replied, “Yeah, God wants you to know that he has given you that power and faith to move mountains, but right now…He wants to use you to speak change into HEARTS of people we’re about to encounter and cause them to move towards Him…”
Daniel’s words stirred my spirit like crazy. Moving mountains with my words would be awesome (mainly because I would love to have any kind of super power), but to know that God is going to use me to change lives…that gets me more excited than the thought of being able to move giant mounds of earth or leaping buildings in a single bound. Pray for that boldness to hover over me…to speak change into lives.
I’ll end on things I want to post soon on my blog. I have been thinking about my past two months on the race, which were both spent in Nicaragua at the same location, and how to adequately convey my experience there to you. Honestly, I have been trying to force myself to process through it, but what I have realized after talking to the people who experienced it with me is that I need to let it happen on its own. In time I want to share what has happened in my life and in Nicaragua with you because it has changed who I am and my perceptions completely. That is something me and my team need prayer for as well as moving into our current ministry in Phuket, Thailand at
SHE Thailand Ministries….an organization that goes into bars and builds relationships with the women working in the sex tourism industry to ultimately offer them a way out. Tonight is our first night entering Bangla Road where about 200 bars are located on this one strip. Send a prayer up when you read this and make yourself a reminder to intercede for my team, myself, and the other three teams that are here as well for the next three weeks everyday around 9-12 am central time.
One last thing…I want to send a BIG “THANK YOU!” to the members of Parkview UMC in Benton for putting on a fundraiser for me on Friday night. Your support means so much. With their generous support, I now only need about $1000 by July 1st in order to be fully funded….thank you JESUS! If you are led to give to my mission you may do so by clicking
HERE! Thanks so much for your support and I love you all very much.
Matthew 17:20…”For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” – Jesus
