Welcome to Thailand.
That’s what the sign read at the airport, but it wasn’t till I stepped outside that it hit me we are in yet another country. Why? Well here in Thailand they drive the opposite way, they drive on the left side of the road in right sided cars. So yes, just like the British. That was when it started to hit me that I was in Thailand.
As we traveled from the airport to the bus terminal that we were going to be going to catching our bus to our ministry site, we got to see part of Bangkok. We passed the grand palace and we drove by several wats. Wats are a type of religious building for the Buddhist, which is the Thai people’s religion. We got to see lots of pictures of the King and Queen around town. Then we started to see little structures at almost every building then we relized that they are little shrines to the gods. Where people leave sacrifices to the gods. They are everywhere here. There is a saying here that to be Thai is to be Buddhist.
Then we got on our bus to Phuket, we left at 7pm and rode through the night. It was a long bus ride but we are glad that it was at night so we could sleep. Well that we did. Once we got to Phuket at after a 14 hour bus ride. We were picked up by our ministry contact. This month we are working with a ministry called She Thailand. They are a ministry that works in the bars of Phuket and with the women of the sex trade, so they are and anti sex trafficking ministry. But this month we are being blessed to work on their new project. They are building a new facility they have out grown there current facility and we are working on making the new land and facility ready for them to start to work out of, it is on the Island of Si-Ray it is barely off of the coast of Phuket. One of the reasons that we are here is that it’s our manistry month, no that is not a misspelled word that’s a Race term. It’s the month of the race that all of the guys are together as a team, so we are doing manual labor for the most part.
